AYA is the best known of all the Spanish gun manufacturers and their reputation in founded on build quality and reliability. Although best known for their side by sides, they have always made a range of over and unders for the British and American markets. Most have heard of the Yeoman, an entry level boxlock in side by side and o/u, but this gun is the much rarer Yeoman deluxe. It features a sideplated action with a hidden 3rd bite, auto safety and selective barrel firing. It has 3” chambers on 28” barrels with a ventilated file rib. The gun comes with the full set of five chokes and fitting key. The gun has good bores, crisp chequering and has had very little use.
Where the deluxe part of the equation kicks in is in the quality of finish. The woodwork is nicely figured throughout and the sideplates are graced with fine engaving showing a gundog flushing game on the left, a trio of mallard and retriever to the right and a flight of pheasant to the underside.
This is a tight, near mint example of this rare gun and with the contemporary equivalent costing £5000 must be a bargain at just £495
