Description
Alex Martin were a renowned Scottish firearms manufacturer. Started in Paisley in 1837, by the 1930âs had branches in Glasgow, Edinburgh , Aberdeen and Stirling as can be seen on the rib of this model dating from about 1935. At this time the firm seemed transfixed on producing lighter guns but rather than decreasing the bore size tried out making 2â chambers and many ribless models. This model has standard chambers but with its shorter barrels and light stock make an upland gun that can be carried all day. By the late 1950âs they were having their guns made by Browns in Birmingham and the firm was finally bought by John Dicksons of Edinburgh.
I canât tell you this gun is one of their special patents but proudly bears the name on both sides of the action as well as along the rib. It has a few very slight marks inside and out but to own a piece of Scottish gunmaking history must be worth the price Iâm asking.
